Month of January marks 4 months since the release of Set 5.  With HEX planning to have 3 PvP Set a year, it needs to have new set released every forth month.  So technically speaking, they got a bit behind the schedule, but spoiler is here so anticipate the actual release sometime in February.  As with any new set in card game, there will be 3 new keywords.  Let’s take a closer look.

Mercenary system is one of the most highly anticipated feature of upcoming PvE set.  Every mercenary revealed to this date have such interesting specialized power/ability, Mercenaries will make every deck play and feel different.  I believe this will be a signature system of what defines HEX as unique game when it is released.  Rakshani the Spiteblade is no exception.

In both good and bad ways, HEX get compared to Magic the Gathering.  I had written several articles while the topic was hot (especially with now settled legal issue) in order to emphasize the difference between the two games.  One of the main feature was HEX’s resource system, which for some especially those who haven’t played HEX, may be a surprise.  Although these cards are not new in Set 5, they simply emphasize the difference in the game mechanics.  So let’s take a look.

Cryptozoic is a company who took over the latter development of World of Warcraft TCG.  Unlike Magic, and similar to HEX, WoW TCG had champion system.  I have never played WoW TCG, but one of the game mechanics that I was intrigued by when I saw the game was “Master Champion system.”  Guess what!  HEX got one! (We actually already had one since Set 3).
